UNITRAY
[Surface Design] UNITRAY is a mixed-use tray constructed from a composite material of stones and epoxy resin. Cast from a tape & silicon mould, the unique imprint created resembles a rock’s surface. Designed to mimic nature’s unpredictability and deliver versatility, the work is intended for corporate professionals’ use in an office environment where opportunities to interface with nature are scarce.
The surface of the resin has been manipulated through a sanding process, which transforms the qualities of the surface’s texture from glossy and stiff to matte, worn and granular so that it resembles stone. In conjunction with small rocks and the imprint created by the tape mould, the result is a unique product reminiscent of natural processes.
